WORK EXPERIENCE & INTERNSHIPS
I'm currently interning with IBM Interactive Experience (iX) for my Graduation Project. Previously I've interned with Hindustan Unilever R&D as a Customer Experience Design Intern in the summer of 2018. Before joining NID, I worked with 17Seven in Thane as a Graphic Designer for 5 months.
GYAAN ADDA CO-ORDINATOR
Gyaan Adda is a student run community at NID Bangalore which hosts engaging activities with industry professionals on a bi-weekly/monthly basis. We feature inspiring people, right from the ones working in the design industry to someone who has interesting travel stories to tell. Gyaan Adda sessions give rise to insightful conversations, exchange of knowledge & a good feeling of what we can do differently when you leave the auditorium.
We're a team of four people currently managing Gyaan Adda. You can check our activities on our Facebook page.
WHY I ENJOY BEING A DESIGNER
Being a designer comes from a place of care towards others from within and also to keep your creative juices flowing while catering to design solutions. I strive to work from the mind & the heart. Both the emotional & practical sides of me help me with my approach towards problem solving. The question of 'How am I making an impact or what am I contributing as a Designer' boggles me at night. As I'm taking baby steps for answering that question, I wish to and try to work on projects that serve a purpose, give a meaning, make meaningful impact.
LOVE FOR STORIES - BE IT WORDS OR VISUALS
I love storytelling. I translate the scenarios in my head either by sketching or writing first person narratives. Writing in first person encourages you to understand and feel their emotions better, to mentally put ourselves in their shoes & just bleed with words. The words further help construct visuals.
Being a person who always has something going on in her mind, writing helps me greatly as a designer. You can see that in the process documentation of my projects. You can also read my articles on Medium & some writings/illustrations on Instagram.
THINGS I LOVE, THINGS I DO
I feel some of us are living oxymorons trying to bring balance, sense & structure in things around us along while appreciating the chaos within & around us. Evidently, I love deep stuff.
My love for words encourages me to write narratives & appreciate the beauty that typography gives to letters.
I'm also a calligraphy enthusiast, mostly brush lettering with brush pen & digitally on my iPad.
I don't get bored of writing or lettering. You can check my work on Medium or Instagram.
I also appreciate humour in all its styles, shape & size. Especially puns.
My other interests include cooking Indian food, trying to derive Gulzar's lyrics, listening to music varying from Jagjit Singh to John Mayer. On some days, I'm a Chai by my window person; on others I set out of my house, roam around random streets looking for some good Idli, Filter Coffee & a cute dog to cuddle.
I love organisation & giving things a structure. My wardrobe is color coded & categorically organized as I'm writing this.
